No one likes an ungrateful child. Especially after you have done something very special for them. And to have them not care if sacrifices were made on their behalf or not even thank you, can be very hurtful. Often they raise quite a fuss when they don’t get something they want. "I never get anything I want, or You don’t love me," is often heard while living in a comfortable home that is being provided for them; as well as nice clothes and regular meals. And compared to most children in the world, they are very well off.
It is unfortunate that many Christians have the same attitude toward God.
After not receiving something they have asked for, they feel God doesn’t love them or else he would have answered their prayer. If you should ever be guilty of this, try studying a powerful little verse found in John 3:16.
"For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life." Then ask yourself, what has God given me? In case you missed it, let me suggest a few things to you.
He gave you love when he gave his only begotten son. He gave you faith, hope, and salvation. He gave you forgiveness of your sins and the promise or eternal life. He bought you back from Satan when you were doomed to die spiritually and spend forever in a devil’s Hell. And he gave you unmerited grace and undeserved mercy. And he will give you a home with him at this life’s end, if you remain faithful to him. It is very childish and foolish to cast aspersions on God’s motives because certain gifts we ask for may not be forthcoming. Rest assured God will always give us only those things that benefit us spiritually and will save our souls.
